Meet Brian
Brian is the new Director of Marketing for Mammoth Lakes Tourism (MLT), and has more than 20 years of executive-level experience in the travel industry. Early on in his career, he oversaw all sales, marketing, and e-business efforts at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida, working for Delaware North Companies (DNC) Parks and Resorts. He then moved to California and served as Director of Marketing for DNC at Yosemite National Park and it was here that he first fell in love with the Sierra, and it was nearly nine years to the day of leaving Yosemite that he started with MLT. During his time in Yosemite, Brian worked on many of the same challenges facing Mammoth Lakes today. Visitor education and sustainability were the main components of his work there, especially during the summer months. Following his time in Yosemite, Wright served as Visit California’s (VCA) Senior Director of Communications where he was responsible for the planning, execution, reporting, and management of internal and external communications, public affairs, consumer and industry media relations, and special event programs within the organization. He also served as VCA’s Director of DMO & Executive Relations, working with all in-state destination marketing organizations (DMOs), chambers of commerce, and convention and visitor bureaus on strategic, tourism-related initiatives to sustainably increase visitation throughout the state. Additionally, he sat on Visit California’s International Committee as well as chaired the organization’s Communications Committee, and currently sits on the Rural Committee, the Marketing Advisory Committee, and as vice-chair of the California Welcome Center Committee. Most recently, Brian worked as the Director of Global Business Development for Santa Monica Travel & Tourism and was responsible for all international travel trade efforts, as well as creating a new domestic travel trade program during the pandemic.
